Fix Search Issue – Windows 10

Sometimes on trying the windows search, the results don’t come up and it shows as “fetching” indefinitely.  This can be quickly resolved by following the steps:-

  1. Open Task Manager
  2. Go to “Details” tab and look for “SearchUI.exe” under the “Name” column
  3. End this task by clicking on “End Task”.
  4. Now click on File >> Run New Task and type “searchUI.exe” and hit enter.
  5. The search should be working and you can test it out by pressing the “Windows” button and typing “mspaint” as search query and we should see the “msPaint App” in the results.

Good Luck.

Creating an Object interface that accepts any property name.

If we want to a typescript definition for an Object that accepts any property value.  For example, the the $stateParams Object in AngularJS UI Router, we can work with the following declaration for the interface.

Interface for an Array of Objects

To create an Interface that is an array of object, we first create an interface of the Object and than extend it as an Array.

Authenticated Redirects

When a user visits our app, we want them to go directly to their dashboard if they are already signed-in.  I’m working with AngularJS and Firebase so I worked with this recipe for accomplishing this task:

Customs Links for Front Page >> Featured Pages

After trying for some time to add custom links to “Home Feature Page one” and being unable to do so, I could find a solution to trick the Customizr Theme into creating “Featured Pages” for the Front Page.  Broken down in a few steps this is what we need to do:

Step 1

Activate the Customizer Child Theme  to easily set up a child theme for Customizr or create a child theme manually.  Now, in the functions.php  file, add this snippet of code (ref).

Step 2

Now, create “dummy pages” for each Featured Page.  I am calling them “dummy” because they themselves will not contain any content in them.  However, the title should be something which you want as the heading for the featured page since the title will appear on the front page.  Get the postId for this page.

Step 3

Finally, add the post ID  and its corresponding link  in the code snippet you pasted in the functions.php  file.
